Bdo How to Get Hp Back on Ranger
Last updated: 30th July 2020
Introduction
Remember that class guides are a rough explanation of the class, designed to give you an idea of the class and what you should be aiming for. You should really adapt the guide and follow your own instincts to match your play-style! I also highly recommend looking at as many different sources as possible and gathering as much information as you can about your class before deciding what is best for you and how you play. The class discords are a great place to start, most have their own guides and resources as well as plenty of skilled players willing to help with questions. I would also like to give shoutouts to Delta, Wally and Crit from the Ranger discord. These 3 players influenced this guide and the way I play Ranger. Check out the Useful Links/Credit section for more information and links to their guides.
The Ranger class uses a long bow as their primary weapon and a dagger as their secondary weapon. At level 56, the Ranger unlocks their awakening weapon, which is a sword. The Ranger class has lots of movement and dexterity, allowing you to kite your target and deal damage at long and short distances. They have high attack damage but very low defenses and are considered a glass cannon/assassin class.
Ranger is midtier in PvE with decent clear speed. The main issue is that they consume mana very quickly and will require a lot of pots when grinding. In small scale PvP, a ranger really shines if they know how to play smart, in large scale they can also be strong once they have their Absolute Skills and Rabam skills. The role of a ranger in Node Wars/Seige is to stay in the backline and use their "shotgun" abilities on large groups.
Check out the videos below to see some examples of the Ranger in action.

PROS
- High mobility
- Ranged and Melee
- High DPS and burst
- Easy PvE grinding
- Fun to play
CONS
- High skill ceiling
- Complex combos
- Very low Defense
- Requires mana and stamina management
- No support skills or self heal
- Lack of AOE CC
Succession
Ranger Succession can be unlocked after level 56 after speaking to the Black Spirit and completing the Succession quest under the suggestions tab. This will give you a totally seperate skill tree that enhances your main hand skills and only has a few awakening skills. Your awakening weapon still effects your succession damage but is not as much of a priority. You can get away with using a Green/Blue grade TRI Ultimate weapon without losing too much damage. This is because only 30% of your Awakening AP is applied to the damage of Succession skills, as well as the additional item stats, such as Human/Species Damage and Accuracy.
Succession is considered better for PVE and also good in largescale PVP, but is very weak in 1v1 situations. In each section of the guide you can find additional information about succession skills.

- Keys in square brackets [] mean that you tap the key. For example, [Q] means you tap Q once.
- Keys in round brackets () mean that you hold the key. For example, (HOLD Q) means you hold Q until the next step. (PERMAHOLD Q) means you hold Q throughout the combo.
- Keys separated by a "+" symbol should be used at the same time. For example, [Q] + [LMB] means you tap Q and LMB at the same time.
- Keys separated by a ">" symbol show the order you should follow out the steps. For example, [Q] + [LMB] > [F] means you tap Q and LMB at the same time, then tap F
- [LMB] refers to left-clicking with your mouse, [RMB] refers to right-clicking with your mouse.
- Red skill names are optional.
- Blue skill names are awakening skills (level 56+).
GENERAL
Bow Skill
[LMB]
This skill is your automatically skilled into and is your auto attack. It is a low damage skill used for regenerating your mana or gathering up monsters. You can also hold [SHIFT] to AoE, but this will drain your mana. Using this skill on a horse is AoE without using mana or holding shift.
Dagger of Protection
[RMB]
This skill is your offhand auto attack. It deals low damage AoE and also reduces your target's movement speed on hit.
Moving Shot
(HOLD LMB) + (HOLD A) OR (HOLD D)
This skill allows you to run left or right whilst auto attacking. This skill is great for gathering up monsters when low level/pre-awakening.
Call of the Earth
Skill bar
This skill doesn't have a hot key. It will put down a tree on the floor which increases your accuracy and the accuracy of all nearby allies. You can cancel the animation as soon as you use the skill by strafing in a direction. Example: [A] + [LMB]. You can use Blasting Gust to cancel it as well.
Spirit Healing
Passive
This skill is your passive and it increases the amount of mana you regenerate in bow stance only and also doesn't work on AoE skills. It is only worth leveling up this passive if you already have your core skill build because the passive is generally quite useless.
Awakening: Kamasylven Sword
[C]
This skill allows you to swap between your main hand and awakening weapon. The skill has different animations depending on which direction key you press while switching. When you switch from pre-awakening to awakening it also gives you forward guard so you want to extend the animation as long as possible for a longer forward guard. The best one to use is [A] or [D] + [C]. Walking backwards with awakening also gives you a forward guard (S block). You can move backwards diagonally to stop yourself from being locked in the block animation and it will still use forward guard.
Spirit's Shackles
[E]
This skill is your grab skill. The skill is used in PvP and is very important for combos and interupting certain class skills. You can also grab mutliple targets at once (up to 10). It will knock down the target(s) if successful and also give you a DP +20 buff for 10 seconds.
Guardian
[SHIFT] + [Q]
This skill gives you a powerful awakening buff for 30 seconds when used: Attack Speed +30%, Movement Speed +30%, Evasion +15%, Critical Hit Chance +20%. It also recovers +500 MP an allows you to sprint for 10 seconds without consuming stamina. The skill has a 3 minute cooldown. You have super armor when using the skill.
Kamasylven Sword Training
[LMB]
This skill is your awakening auto attack. You can use it with [W], [A], [D] to attack forwards or sidways. This skill gives you mana back per hit and also gives you a ranged accuracy buff. You can use this skill with Cold Blade to quickly get the buffs from both skills before an engage: [S] + [LMB] (x2) > [LMB] (x1).
DODGES
Evasion
(HOLD SHIFT) + [A] OR [S] OR [D]
This skill is your strafe. You can strafe to the sides or backwards. I recommend locking this skill.
Wind Step
[RMB]
This skill is your dash and uses stamina. Using [RMB] will move your character backwards, but you can use [W] + [RMB] to move forwards as well and can go diagonally forwards as well. Your character is invincible whilst using the skill as long as it is not used whilst on cooldown. You also gain a DP +10 buff for 10 seconds. It's important to note that collision will occur if used forwards, but not backwards. If you are in bow stance, you can use this skill [W] + [RMB] to dash forwards and swap to your awakening.
KICKS
Round Kick
[F]
Spin kick is one of your kicks. It can be used whilst sprinting to perform a charging kick and is used in some combos. When used it will knockback or knockdown enemies. I personally lock this skill because the combos it is used in are not that good in the current meta.
Charging Kick
[W] + [F]
Charging Kick will cause your character to kick forwards and knock back the enemy. This skill is used with Flow: Call from Sky which has super armor.
DAMAGE
Charging Wind
(HOLD RMB) + (HOLD SHIFT)
Charging Wind is your 100% Black Spirit Rage skill. The skill will begin to charge up, before firing a charged arrow and knocking down/back an enemy (PVE only). It's important to get the Extreme: Charging Wind as soon as possible because it allows you to cast an extra shot often called "shotgun" due to its high damage. To quickly cast it, use Evasive Shot then [SPACE]. For example: [Q] + [A] + [LMB] > [SPACE]. The Ultimate of this skill is often spammed by Rangers in both PvP and PvE and you can use Call of the Earth with a skill cancel inbetween for an accuracy buff.
Pinpoint
[LMB] + [S]
This skill fires three arrows very quickly and is great for restoring mana, but again, it isn't used often because it leaves you immobile and vulnerable in PVP. However, it can be combined with other skills to instantly cast. I would recommend locking this skill to avoid conflicts with other skills such as Razor Wind.
Descending Current (Optional)
Skill Bar
This skill does not have a hotkey and must be placed on your skill bar. Once activated, you must hold [LMB] to fire the arrows. This skill is your 200% Black Spirit Rage skill but requires you to be immobile while you are casting. The damage on this skill is too low to be used often. The only real uses for it is to scout ninjas or kunos that are in stealth, or in unique situations where you can find a safe spot to rain arrows on structures in a node war. I would recommend only taking this skill if you have your core skil build already.
Evasion Shot
(HOLD LMB) + [W] OR [A] OR [S] OR [D]
This skill allows you to strafe in a direction whilst auto attacking. Is a must have skill and you should level it up to it's maximum as well as getting Absolute later on, because it's often used to cancel other skills.
Razor Wind
[E] > (HOLD LMB)
This skill is channeled and is also an AOE skill. However, you are unable to move whilst channeling and it makes you very vulnerable. You can cancel the skill by pressing [S] but it will still use up a lot of mana. This skill is often used to cast Charging Wind and Extreme: Charging Wind very quickly using: [E] > [LMB] + [RMB] + [SHIFT] > [SPACE]
Tearing Arrow (Optional)
[S] + [E] > (HOLD LMB)
This skill is a counter part to Razor Wind. It has a short charge up time and will deal more damage for the longer it is charged. Unlike Razor Wind, this skill does not cost any mana, but will instead regenerate it and slow the enemy, as well as applying a bleed effect. I personally don't use or recommend this skill because of the amount of time it takes to charge, and it's lack of damage. However, it does combo with other skills and it's all down to preference at the end of the day. If you decide that you absolutely need this skill, I would recommend waiting until you've maxed your most important skills first.
Blasting Gust
[Q]
This skill will charge an arrow and knockdown enemies that it hits, along with giving them an evasion debuff. It's cool down can be ignored, allowing you to spam the skill at the cost of less damage and no CC. It does cost a lot of mana and stamina to keep cancelling the skill, but is a great way of regenerating mana if it hits a large enough pack. You can pair this skill with Evasion Shot to "Q cancel", which basically means that you can remove the awkward animation at the beginning. To do this, hold [Q] and [A] or [D] or [W] or [S] to choose the direction.
Will of the Wind
[SHIFT] + [Q]
This skill is great for grinding low tier mobs and preawakening because it can be spammed and has good damage. It also has decent damage for PVP and can be a good finisher with a DP debuff as well. Will of the Wind can be cancelled with the skill Evasive Shot by pressing [A] or [D] + [F].
Evasive Explosion Shot
[RMB] + [S]
This skill will cause your character to leap backwards or sideways through the air. This is an important skill because it has and is one of your longest iframes and is often in your super armor rotation. Whilst leveling, you can use Evasive Explosion Shot, then press [LMB]. This will release an umbrella of arrows (damage scales with your bow skill – auto attack), dealing high amounts of AoE damage. You can pretty much spam this as much as you like whilst leveling and it makes grinding very easy pre-awakening. It's also important to note, if you are in awakening stance you can quickly change to your bow by using: [RMB] + [A] OR [D]
Penetrating Wind
Skill Bar > [LMB] to fire
This skill can be used on cooldown but it will reset the cooldown of the skill. Skills that are used on cooldown will not have CC and will have reduced damage. The skill has a knockdown in PVE only, air attack and down smash. It also has a 100% critical hit rate. The air attack can be used by cancelling other skills such as Razor Wind > Kiss of the Wind and other combos. You can also hold RMB after this skill to cancel the animation after it and attack with a low damage Charging Wind.
Cold Blade
[S] + [LMB]
I wouldn't recommend leveling up this skill and honestly you won't use it that often either because it has no protection. You can use this skill with your Kamaslyven Sword Training (auto attack) to quickly get the buffs from both skills before an engage: [S] + [LMB] (x2) > [LMB] (x1).
Breezy Blade
[LMB] during running/Windstep/Walz of Wind
This skill is a short dash which deals damage. It does not cost mana to use and instead uses stamina. The skill is a small gap closer with super armor if used off cooldown. I recommend placing this skill on your hotbar because you can instant cast it without having to use your dash first. This is useful if you quickly need to evade CC. You should also practise taking your time with this skill and not cancel it straight away because it has lingering super armor on it's crouching animation at the end.
Wailing Wind
[Q]
This skill deals moderate damage and knocks back targets as well as debuffing, giving a crit buff and inflicting bleed. The skill does significantly less damage whilst on cooldown but has an additional skill "Flow: Tempest" that deals a lot of damage and is used as a filler for PVE. This skill also gives you super armor and applied stiffness when it is used as your 100% Black Spirit Rage skill.
Waltz of Wind
[F] + [W] OR [S]
This skill can be used to shortly dash forwards or backwards with [F] + [W] OR [S]. You can turn your camera while using the skill to position yourself. It is a high damaging spin that hits all enemies around you. It does less damage on cooldown and does take up a lot of mana if you spam it. The problem with this skill is that it leaves you very vulnerable and you should only use it when the target is already CC'd. You can use Breezy Blade straight after this skill and then Flow: Piercing Wind to deal a high burst of damage very quickly.
Elven Rage
[SHIFT] + [RMB]
This skill damages and knocks down enemies in front of you (PVE). It is more of a defensive skill for PVP and doesn't deal a lot of damage. It's damage is also reduced in PvP. You get a forward guard whilst casting the skill and super armor whilst attacking so it's a good skill to use when you need to block incoming damage or evade CC.
Nature's Tremble
[SHIFT] + [LMB]
This skill is one of your highest damaging skills and has forward guard. It does have a long cooldown of 21 – 23 seconds depending on the skill rank so you shouldn't waste it and only try to use it when you have your target knocked down already. The skill gives a -15 DP debuff to opponents and is also your 200% Black Spirit Rage skill which has an additional stun and super armor.
Flow: Rooting (Optional)
[LMB] right after Spirit's Shackles
This skill is optional and I wouldn't recommend taking it. It slightly increases the damage for Spirit's Shackles and doesn't do much damage. The problem is that the animation of the skill is so long that by using this you lose the chance to do damage. It can be useful in some situations if you need to CC the target longer with a down smash for your allies to deal damage, but the skill is unprotected and is often too risky and not worth using.
Flow: Rushing Wind
[RMB] during Breezy Blade/Vine Knot/Waltz of Wind
This skill is another small gap closer with a cooldown. It deals a decent amount of damage and also stuns the targets (PVE only) whilst inflicting very strong debuffs. It can be used straight after Breezy Blade, Vine Knot and Waltz of Wind. The skill also has Super Armor which lingers as well.
Flow: Tempest
Hold [SPACE] during Wailing Wind
This skill chains from Wailing Wind to deal additional damage. It has a cooldown of 18 seconds and unlike Wailing Wind it cannot be spammed. Flow: Tempest will knockdown targets if it successfully hits but the skill is too risky to use because it has no protection and is mostly used as a filler in PVE.
Vine Knot
[F]
This skill is a lower damaging skill that hits targets in front of you. It has a floating CC and allows you to do extra damage before cancelling into Waltz of Wind (F > S + F). You do get a Attack Speed +10% buff for 10 seconds as well and it also recovers MP +10 per successful hit. The skill is often used in combos for the floating CC after a grab.
Flow: Piercing Wind
[SPACE] during Breezy Blade, after Waltz of Wind (backwards only)/Flow: Rushing Wind
This skill allows you to use Ultimate: Charging Wind or Extreme: Charging Wind after some skills. It is great for switching from your sword to your bow quickly and dealing high damage.
Flow: Disillusion
[LMB] during Elven Rage
This skill is an additional skill to Elven Rage. It as a 100% chance of Critical Hit and also has a small chance to float the target. You are left completely vulnerable when you use the flow though and I wouldn't recommend using it in PVP. It can be useful as a filler in PVE though.
Regeneration
Skill Bar
This skill is a high damaging skill that hits all enemies around you. It recovers a lot of MP if used on a big pack of mobs, and also has a small chance of knocking down the targets and has a downsmash as well. You get an Attack Speed +10% for 10 sec buff when you use the skill. This is one of your important CC skills in PVP and has a long cooldown so you should be careful not to waste the skill. It is also your 50% Black Spirit Rage skill and has super armor when used with Rage.
SUCCESSION
Succession: Feathers of Lemoria
Passive
This skill increases the range of your skills.
Prime: Wind of the Spirit
Passive
This skill increases your max stamina by 300
Prime: Spirit's Blessing
Passive
This skill can be leveled up to increase your Ranged AP.
Prime: Feathers of the Spirits
[SHIFT] + [E]
This is your succession buff, it has a 3 minute cooldown and gives the following buffs for 30 seconds: Attack speed +30%, Critical Hit Rate +20%, Movement Speed +30%, All Evasion Rate +15%, All Accuracy Rate +15%, MP Recovery +500. The skill also has super armor when being used and you will not consume stamina while sprinting for the first 10 seconds of the buff.
Prime: Charging Wind
(HOLD RMB) + (HOLD SHIFT)
Prime: Charging Wind has a super armor during the charging of the skill and has less damage when it isn't charged. You can move with the skill fully charged if you take the skill Flow: Wings of Freedom. The skill has a knockback and knockdown in PVE as well as a air attack and down smash.
Prime: Penetrating Wind
Skill Bar > [LMB] to fire
This skill can be used on cooldown but it will reset the cooldown of the skill. Skills that are used on cooldown will not have CC and will have reduced damage. The skill has a knockdown in PVE only, air attack and down smash. It also has a 100% critical hit rate. The air attack can be used by cancelling other skills such as Razor Wind > Kiss of the Wind and other combos. You can also hold RMB after this skill to cancel the animation after it and attack with a low damage Charging Wind.
Prime: Razor Wind
[E] > (HOLD LMB)
This skill is channeled and is also an AOE skill. However, you are unable to move whilst channeling and it makes you very vulnerable. You can cancel the skill by pressing [S] but it will still use up a lot of mana. This skill is often used to cast Charging Wind and Extreme: Charging Wind very quickly using: [E] > [LMB] + [RMB] + [SHIFT] > [SPACE]
Prime: Tearing Arrow
[S] +[E]
This skill has one of the higher single target damage. The last hits also knockback, but every hit before it must land to be successful. You can instant cast this skill directly after Evasive Explosion Shot as well.
Prime: Blasting Gust
[Q]
This skill has a knowdown on good hits and is mostly used as a single target CC in PVP because the damage from the skill splits, making it poor damage in PVE. Check the normal version description of this skill (higher up) for more information. There is also the skill "Prime: Ultimate Blasing Gust" which adds super armor to the skill but only when you are shooting during the skill. You can use the Ultimate version by holding [LMB] after Blasting Gust.
Prime: Extreme Charging Wind
SPACE after certain skills
This skill is the succession version of the famous "shotgun" skill. The skill isn't as great as it used to be because of the split damage and way that the skill's projecticles work. It is mostly a filler in PVE but does deal high damage to single targets. You can cast this skill by pressing SPACE after most skills.
Prime: Nature's Tremble
[W] +[C]
This skill is one of the only "awakening" skills in the succession kit. It has a DP -15 for 10 second debuff when used on a target. The skill can also stun in PVE and has a forward guard.
Prime: Regeneration
[S] + [C]
This skill is one of the only "awakening" skills in the succession kit.
Skill Combos
The following skill combos are basic combos and some additional tips/tricks for your class. I recommend using video guides to learn more complex skill combos, because it is much easier to see exactly what you should be doing, rather than reading it and trying to wrap your head around it all. There are some recommended skill combo videos in the Useful Links section and the end of the guide!
Required skills: Bow Skill, Crescent Kick, Ultimate: Evasive Shot
(PERMAHOLD LMB) + (PERMAHOLD F) > [A] OR [D]
Each time you tap A or D you will strafe to the side and quickly fire your auto attack once. This combo is great for regenerating your mana whilst still kiting. It does cost stamina however and will drain it quite quickly if you repeatedly use this combo.
Required skills: Bow Skill, Crescent Kick, Riding the Wind, Ultimate: Evasive Shot
(HOLD LMB) + (HOLD F) + (HOLD A) OR (D) + (HOLD SPACEBAR)
Using this you will strafe to the side and quickly fire your auto attack once and then go into the skill Riding the Wind. This combo gives you more mobility than the one above.
Required skills: Evasive Explosion Shot
[RMB] + [A] OR [S] OR [D] > [LMB]
You will leap into the air either backwards, left or right, then release an umbrella of arrows. This attack is one of your main AoE combos pre-awakening and will also knock down the enemy. It is however, quite close ranged.
Required skills: Blasting Gust, Ultimate: Evasive Shot (Core Ranger Mechanics)
(PERMAHOLD LMB) + (PERMAHOLD Q) > (HOLD A) OR (HOLD D) OR (HOLD W) OR (HOLD S)
This combo allows you to instantly cast Blasting Gust whilst strafing to the side. If the skill wasn't on cooldown, it will also knock down the enemy. Repeated use will quickly drain your stamina but is a good way to regenerate your mana if you are against a large pack of mobs. This combo is often referred to as "Q cancelling". You can also use your Q cancel to stop the animation from the skill Call of the Earth and instantly cast it. You can use [SPACE] after this combo to add the "shotgun" to it for high damage.
Required skills: Dash Kick, Flow: Call from Sky, Evasive Explosion Shot (Core Ranger Mechanics)
[W] + [F] > [SPACEBAR] > [LMB] OR [RMB]
This combo will make you kick fowards, then perform a leap through the air. The last part can be used one of two ways. Using [LMB] at the end of the combo will release an umbrella of arrows, whilst [RMB] will perform a 3rd forwards leap through the air. This combo is useful for kiting in PvP because you are invisible during Flow: Call from Sky and Evasive Explosion Shot.
Required skills: Ultimate: Evasion Shot, Will of the Wind (Core Ranger Mechanics)
[F] + [A] OR [D]
This combo allows you to instantly cast Will of the Wind without the awful animation it has. This is often used in both PVP and PVE.
Required skills: Razor Wind, Ultimate: Evasive Shot, Ultimate: Charging Wind (Core Ranger Mechanics)
[E] > [LMB] + [RMB] + [SHIFT] > [SPACE]
This combo allows you to instantly cast Charging Wind and then the Ultimate: Charging Wind for a quick burst of damage. It can be risky to use because it has no protection at all.
Required skills: Wind Step, Breezy Blade, Flow: Rushing Wind, Evasive Explosion Shot (Core Ranger Mechanics)
[W + RMB] > [LMB] > [RMB] > [RMB] > [LMB] > [A] + [RMB]
This combo is a super armor rotation you can use. It's very hard to pull off and may have slight gaps. You need to extend every animation because each of the skills has lingering super armor/i-frame on them and you shouldnt cancel them straight away.
Required skills: Spirit's Shackles, Waltz of Wind, Breezing Blade, Flow: Rushing Wind, Vine Knot, Nature's Tremble (Awakening PVP skill combo)
[E] > [W] + [F] > [LMB] > [RMB] > [F] > [F] + [S] > [SHIFT] + [LMB]
This is a PVP combo you can use after landing a successful grab.
Required skills: Spirit's Shackles, Waltz of Wind, Breezing Blade, Flow: Rushing Wind, Regeneration, Nature's Tremble (Awakening PVP skill combo)
[E] > [W] + [F] > [LMB] > [RMB] > (Quickslot: Regeneration) > [SHIFT] + [LMB]
This is another variant of the PVP combo you can use after landing a successful grab.
Locked Skills
These are the skills I recommend locking to help prevent messing up combos during PVP.
To lock a skill, press the lock icon on the top of each skill icon in the skill window (K).
Absolute Skills
Below are the recommended Absolute Skills you should take in order of priority:
Absolute: Blasting Gust – Requires level 57 (32 Skill Points)
Absolute: Extreme Charging Wind – Requires level 60 (56 Skill Points)
Absolute: Will of the Wind – Requires level 58 (24 Skill Points)
Absolute: Evasive Explosion Shot – Requires level 57 (28 Skill Points)
Absolute: Evasive Shot – Requires level 56 (16 Skill Points)
Rabam Skills
Level 56 – [SHIFT] + [X]
Tearing Shot – Requires [Charging Wind IV] and [Blasting Gust III] (Preferred Choice)
Squall Shot – Requires [Charging Wind IV] and [Penetrating Wind IV]
I recommend taking the Tearing Shot Rabam skill. The skill has longer range and the stun is useful for follow ups with Blasting Gust. You can also use SHIFT to control when the skill ends, whilst Squal Shot will lock you into an animation when it ends and will not work on some terrain.
Level 57 – [SHIFT] + [Z]
Roaring Arrow – Requires [Ultimate: Tearing Arrow] and [Razor Wind V] (Preferred Choice for Succession Large Scale PVP)
Fury Arrow – Requires [Ultimate: Tearing Arrow] and [Penetrating Wind IV] (Preferred Choice)
I recommend taking the Fury Arrow Rabam skill. It has faster shots and can CC targets faster. It is good for in node wars where other players can follow up on the CC.
Skill Add-ons
Below are some examples of viable skill add-ons you can take. I recommend experimenting with your add-ons and figuring out what is best for you, because it really depends on your personal preference and how you play your class. If you're simply not sure what to take then you can blindly follow the examples below and they will still be effective.
You can also check our Skill Add-on guide for a complete list of all Ranger Skill Add-ons.

Weapons/Armor
The best weapons in the game are currently dropped from World Bosses.
For more information on this click here to view our World Bosses guide.
Primary Weapons:
Rosar
Rosar (or Yuria if unavailable) is what you should be aiming for to level your character. You should enhance it to at least +7 for leveling and then PRI or higher as soon as possible if you don't have Liverto/Kzarka. I would get it to DUO at the highest then aim for Liverto/Kzarka. Aim to buy a +15 Rosar if you can to save your enhancing resources. Ideally you will want to buy or make it ultimate (yellow) to close the AP difference. Make sure you also make use of the gem slots to get your Attack Speed and Critical Hit up to 5.
Liverto
Liverto is the fourth strongest mainhand and much easier to obtain and enhance than Kzarka. I personally would not invest in a Liverto because it will just slow your progression. Go to a kzarka as early as possible. If you do already have liverto and have already invested into it, you will want to upgrade it to PRI or higher as soon as possible. I would recommend getting it to TRI at most and then you really want to switch to Kzarka. The liverto has slightly more AP than Rosar, but it also has a Critical Hit Rate +3 item effect.
Kzarka
Kzarka is the main weapon you will be using. It has the same AP as Liverto but more accuracy and an Attack Speed +3 item effect.
Offin Tett
Offin Tett weapons are usually not worth investing in because of the loss in accuracy. It can help you push to the next AP bracket but at higher AP brackets the extra AP you get is smaller and you'll be losing hit chance % at the same time on both your preawakening and your awakening. So really you're actually losing damage overall since you won't be hitting the enemy as much (unless they are full DR). Offin Tett can be good when you reach certain AP brackets and if your class doesn't depend on accuracy as much as others, but if you're unsure whether you should be using this weapon or not, it's much safer to just use Kzarka.
Blackstar
Blackstar is considered the current best in slot mainhand weapon with higher base AP than Kzarka. It must be crafted using items in Star's End and then following a questline. The weapon is also harder to enhance so most players only switch to Blackstar once they already have TET Kzaraka and very high AP with no easier upgrades. It has a Damage to All Species +10 and Attack Speed +3 item effect, as well as other bonuses when enhanced. The weapon cannot be enhanced with Caphras stones though. Blackstar is considered best for PVE at endgame but eventually a PEN Kzarka will outscale.
Offhand Weapons:
Bronze Dagger
Bronze dagger is your accuracy offhand and is the best offhand to go with if you are a beginner. It is currently considered the best offhand for PVP if you don't have Bheg's gloves or Liverto/Kzarka and even with end game gear, it is particularly effective against high evasion enemies/classes. The Dagger of Sealed Magical Power is equivalent to a +15 bronze dagger and is given to you for free through Black Spirit quests. I would use this instead whilst leveling until you can get a bronze dagger. You should enhance it to at least +7 for leveling and then PRI or higher as soon as possible. Aim to buy a +15 if you can to save your enhancing resources. Ideally you will want to buy or make it ultimate (yellow) as well.
Steel Dagger
Steel is the best green grade offhand you can use for PVE if you have Bheg's and Liverto/Kzarka. Generally it is safer to keep using Bronze dagger and then get Kutum when you have the silver and resources to enhance it.
Kutum Dagger
This dagger gives a mixture of AP and DP with added monster damage and accuracy. The Kutum weapons also have a 10% ignore resistance. The higher AP makes this weapon a best in slot for PVE and is also good for PVP in late game. When you are 261 (using Nouver) it is actually better to use Nouver in PVE as well because of the bonus AP given in the AP brackets. Once you reach over 261 AP (with Kutum) it is better to switch back to Kutum for PVE. More information about AP and DP brackers can be found here
It also has 2 crystal slots. The Kutum dagger can also be modified using an Inverted Hearth of Garmoth to give extra stats (Max HP +150, Max Stamina +100, Special Attack Evasion Rate +10%).
Nouver Dagger
Nouver is currently considered the best in slot choice for Ranger for PVP until you reach very high AP brackets. You should aim to have TRI gear before switching to this offhand. The dagger gives pure AP and an all resistance +10% item effect and can be modified using an Inverted Hearth of Garmoth to give extra stats (Max HP +150, Max Stamina +100, Special Attack Evasion Rate +10%).
When you are 261 (using Nouver) it is actually better to use Nouver in PVE as well because of the bonus AP given in the AP brackets. Once you reach over 261 AP (with Kutum) it is better to switch back to Kutum for PVE. More information about AP and DP brackers can be found here
Awakening Weapons:
Young Tree Spirit's Kamasylven Sword
This is a green grade sword which is sold by some Blacksmith/Arms dealers. This sword has lower AP than the other options but it is still viable for PvE due to it's Damage Against Every Species +5 item effect. It's also much cheaper to enhance and repair max durability than the other options so if you don't have a lot of money or participate in a lot of PvP, then this weapon is a good alternative until you get Dandelion.
Heiress's Kamasylven Sword
This weapon is a blue grade sword which is given to you when you complete the awakening quests. The only ways to obtain this sword is through the quest or night vendor. This makes is hard to obtain and it can be more expensive to repair. The sword is good for PvP and has higher AP than the Young Tree Spirit's Sword, and it has a Damage Against Human +7 item effect.
Dragon Slayer Kamasylven Sword
Dragon Slayer weapons are very comparable to the Dandelion weapons with their stats. They have slightly less AP but are much cheaper to repair and much less hassle. However, the Dragon Slayer weapons cannot be placed on the marketplace and must be crafted by the player themselves.
Dandelion Kamasylven Sword
Dandelion weapons are the BiS awakening weapon. It has much higher AP but it is only obtainable from a Dandelion Weapon Box (Karanda world boss loot) or from the night vendor.
Armor:
The best armor in the game is currently dropped from Bosses. You will want to aim to get the boots and gloves first.
Griffon's Helmet (helmet) – dropped from Griffons in Kamaslyvia.
Dim Tree Spirit's Armor (chest) – dropped from Dim Tree Spirit.
Bheg's Gloves (gloves) – dropped from Bheg.
Urugon's Shoes (shoes) – dropped from Urugon (Gaifinrasia Raid Captain Scroll).
Giath's Helmet (helmet) alternative choice – dropped from Giath.
Muskan's Shoes (shoes) alternative choice – dropped from Monastery Leader.
The best in slot armor is Griffon's Helmet, Dim Tree Spirit's Armor, Bheg's Gloves and Urugon's Shoes.
The full set will give you Maximum MP/WP/SP +100, Maximum HP +200, Max Stamina +200, Attack Speed +1, Casting Speed +1, Movement Speed +1 and All Resistances 5%. You will also get higher Accuracy, Evasion and Damage Reduction from these pieces.
In the mean time you should be using one of the following armor sets:
A popular armor choice for Ranger is to go full Grunil set because it increases your maximum HP and will give you 2 socket slots on each piece, along with extra AP +7 set bonus. Another advantage of using this set is that it is viable on any class, allowing you to swap to another class easily.
Full Heve set is also a very popular choice because it has an easier transition to boss gear whilst. As soon as you get one boss item with Grunil, you lose the set bonuses which Grunil weaker.
Another alternative is to use is the Akum set. It has comparable stats to boss armor and also a very useful set effect that gives Damage Reduction and Hidden AP. If you are unable to get boss armor, then the Akum set is a good cheap alternative that will be good for both PVP and PV. Investing in this set may slow you down in your progression towards softcap, but is much cheaper once you factor in repairing and enhancing.
Accessories
There are a lot of choices available when it comes to accessories and it really depends on what you can get your hands on.
Earrings:
If available I recommend using the Asula's Crimon Eye Earrings (Asula Set) if you are new to the game, this gives you 7 AP and also has very good set bonuses. Otherwise use Bares earrings for 2 AP and switch to Witch's Earring as soon as possible for the 5 AP.
You want to aim for DUO/TRI Witch's Earrings (9 AP/11 AP) before swapping to a DUO Tungrad Earrings (11 AP) because of the huge difference in cost. Tungrad Earrings are one of the best earrings you can get. The other alternative is Black Distortion Earrings which give the highest amount of AP (21 AP at PEN), but reduce your DP as well.
Red Coral Earrings are also very good on ranger because they give accuracy and also have a bit of AP. I would only recommend using Red Coral Earrings if the earring is DUO or higher though or you will miss out on too much AP.
The Capotia Earring is also worth mentioning. It is available at level 62+ only but is a very good earring because of it's high AP. It makes a perfect backup for enhancing and is essentially a free TRI Tungrad Earring.

Rings:
If available I recommend using the Asula's Crimon Eye Ring (Asula Set) if you are new to the game, this gives you 7 AP and 2 DP as well as damage reduction and strong set bonuses. Otherwise use Bares rings for 2 AP and switch to Mark of Shadow as soon as possible for the 5 AP.
Sahazad's Ring of Monarch is also available through the Valencia part I and II quests. It can't be enhanced but it is a good alternative until you can get Ring of Crescent Guardian or Mark of Shadow to PRI/DUO.
The current best in slot, is a Tungrad Ring.
The Capotia Ring is also worth mentioning. It is available at level 61+ only but is a very good ring because of it's high AP. It makes a perfect backup for enhancing and is essentially a free TRI Ring of Crescent Guardian.
Base | PRI | PRI / DUO | DUO / TRI | TRI | TET / TET |

Necklace:
If available I recommend using the Asula's Crimon Eye Necklace (Asula Set) if you are new to the game, this gives you 11 AP and 3 DP as well as damage reduction and an amazing set bonus. Otherwise use Bares Necklace for 4 AP and enhance this to DUO/TRI for 8 AP/10 AP. Enhancing a Bares Necklace is much cheaper than using an un-enhanced BiS necklace. You then want to swap to a DUO Serap's or PRI Ogre/Tungrad.
The Manos Necklaces are also an alternative for PvP, if you don't have a DUO Seraps already, due to their item effects. I personally wouldn't bother with them though because you will want as much AP as possible.
Base | PRI | DUO / PRI | TRI / DUO | TRI / TRI | TET |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
11 AP | 12 AP | 16 / 15 AP | 20 / 20 AP | 25 / 25 AP | 30 AP |

Belt:
If available I recommend using the Asula's Crimon Eye Belt (Asula Set) if you are new to the game, this gives you 6 AP and has amazing set bonuses. Otherwise use Bares Belt for 2 AP and swap to Tree Spirit Belt as soon as possible for more AP and high accuracy.
You want to aim for a PRI/DUO Tree Spirit Belt before swapping to DUO Basilisk's because it is much cheaper and easier to get hold of. Basilisk's Belt and Valtarra are very good belts but Tungrade is currently the best in slot.

Example Gear Builds
I highly recommend using BDOPLANNER.COM to help you plan your build and track your progression.
The build you choose completely depends on your playstyle and what role you want to play in PVP. Below are some example builds to help you decide what is best for you.
Leveling build – [LINK]
Here is what to aim for when leveling and before you get your boss gear. You should focus on enhancing your weapons first and then your armor. Try to also ultimate all your pieces as soon as possible, especially your armor because it will give quite a big DP boost.
Low-Tier build – [LINK]
Here is a low-tier build to use if you are looking to improve your gear before you get boss gear. You may want to use Red Coral Earrings or Witch's Earrings instead of Asula Earrings but they can be quite expensive compared to the rest of the gear.
Mid-Tier build – [LINK]
Here is a mid-tier build to use once you have boss gear. You want to aim to get TRI as soon as possible and then work on your accessories. If possible use a TRI Red Coral Earring and you can then swap your Bronze Dagger for Nouver in most cases as long as you have a minimum of 320 accuracy when using Nouver. You can also use a TET heve and TRI Muskan's shoes instead but Griffon's and Urugon's shoes are currently considered best in slot in the gear meta.
Softcap build – [LINK]
Here is what to aim for if you are going for. It takes a long time to get to this stage, and there are lots of small improvements and other accessories you will use along the way, but this is ideally your softcap build for PVP.
For PVE, you want to be using a Kutum with Corrupted Magic Crystals. Once you reach 261 AP with Nouver, you will want to stop using Kutum for PVE however, until you reach 265 AP with Kutum. After many tests, it is confirmed that Nouver performs better than Kutum in these brackets. More information about AP and DP brackers can be found here
You may also want to consider starting to put Caphras stones into your gear for bonus stats to help you get to the next AP bracket. Begin by getting level 4 in your main hand for the extra 4 AP. Then you will want to move on to putting level 2 into each armor piece before getting them all up to level 4 as well.
End-Game build – [LINK]
Here is what to eventually aim for. It takes a long time to get to this stage, and there are lots of small improvements and other accessories you will use along the way, but this is ideally your end game build for PVP. Make sure to put Caphras stones into your equipment for extra stats. You can also swap out both of the Black Magic Crystal – Precision for Crystal of Elkarr (best in slot) instead but these are very costly and harder to obtain.
More information about AP and DP brackers can be found here
For PVP, it really depends. If you are only doing tier 1 node wars for example, then it is better to stick with Kutum because the node is AP capped anyway and the extra DP can push you to a higher DP bracket.

Consumables
When grinding, use EXP Elixirs and Milk Tea or the Simple Cron Meal and Beast's Draught.
For your food rotation in PVP (node wars/siege), I would recommend using Knight Combat Rations, Valencia Special, Kamaslyvia Meal and King of Jungle Hamburger and in that order. This requires a 2 hour preperation. If you are late or lazy, you can use Exquisite Cron Meal. You will need to also use Elixir of Shock so that you have 5 crit. If you can't do this then you will need to use Margoria Seafood instead of Kamaslyvia Meal. You may also want to use the Special Valencia Meal and Special Kamaslyvia Meal so that it lasts 120 minutes.
The recipes for these are:
ICON | RESULT | INGREDIENTS | USE |
---|---|---|---|
Knight Combat Rations | Dark Pudding x1, Ham Sandwich x1, Fruit Wine x1, Meat Croquette x1 | All Attack +5, Damage against human race +5, All Damage Reduction +5 for 120 minutes | |
Valencia Meal | Teff Sandwich x1, King of Jungle Hamburger x1, Couscous x1, Fig Pie x2, Date Palm Wine x2 | Nullifying all Resistances +4%, Resistance against all Debuffs +4%, All Evasion +10, Decrease of damages from Monsters -6% for 110 minutes | |
Kamaslyvia Meal | Rainbow Button Mushroom Sandwich x1, Coconut Pasta x1, Fig Pie x1, Fruit Wine x2, Rainbow Button Mushroom Cheese Melt x1 | Max HP +150, Max Stamina +200, Back Attack Damage +5% for 110 minutes | |
King of Jungle Hamburger | Teff Bread x4, Pickled Vegetables x2, Lion Meat x4, Nutmeg x3 | Ignores All Resistance +3%, Critical Hit Damage +5% for 110 minutes |
In addition, you may want to use Perfume of Courage (buff lost of death) and Tough Whale Tendon Elixirs. Usually these are not required for node wars.
Other buffs you may want to collect can be found here: [link]
Other Tips
- Levels are important and can effect your hit chances or chance of CC. Higher level skills significantly increase your damage as well. If you are a new or returning player you can use the Olvia channels for the 200% exp boost.
- AP is very important for rangers and if you want to be one of the best, you need 200+ AP as soon as possible. You want to aim for all AP accessories and enhance your weapons to get as much of it as you can.
- Accuracy is essential for PvP. You want to aim for Kzarka Longbow and Bheg's Gloves. The Red Coral Earring is also good for PvP but isn't a requirement.
Mana Management
If you're having a tough time managing your mana then there are some things you can do to try and make it easier:
- Use Magic Crystal of Infiniy – Extraction x2 on your weapon
- Use the skill add-on "Waltz of Wind: Instantly Recover 3 MP/WP/SP per hit".
- Use "Blasting Gust" (Q cancel) on large groups of mobs to regen your mana quickly.
- Limit the use of your mobility skills, such as "Wind Step".

I highly recommend checking out the Ultimate Ranger Reference by Delta and Succession Ranger Guide by Wally. These two guides really helped me to learn everything I know about Rangers and influenced the way I play, as well as the advice in this guide. I also want to give a shoutout to Crit#7771 on the Ranger discord for the PVE and PVP addons listed in this guide. These are the addons that I use, with a bit of adaptation.
